Home Safe, Sound and Super-Blessed!

My trip to Haiti was everything we prayed for and more.
It was a joy to reconnect with people I had not seen for four years
("Pastah Fwahnk and Pastah Luc" above and my good friend MacDonald below)....
..and to make many new friends, like this little guy (below) who is the youngest child in the Good Samaritan Orphanage (led by Maula and his wife, Edna Jean Marie). Never could make him smile!  He was too fascinated by Bryan's camera and the movies we took of him.

Dr. Bryan Easley (World Renewal International VP for Ministry and Leadership Development) and I spent a lot of our time talking with others about strategies to deliver more specific training for leaders at every level, from those who cannot read/write to potential seminary students.
We met with Emmaus Seminary leaders in Cap Haitien (above) and local World Renewal Haiti leaders (below) in Gonaives.  The Lord is opening doors to exciting new opportunities that will greatly impact our ministry in Haiti.

We also had the privilege of seeing progress being made on the Gonaives church facility (Pastor Luc)
and visiting the center where Pastor Maula leads several vital ministries.

The children of Christ Compassion Orphanage grew in size and number since I last saw them!  It was especially wonderful to spend a few moments with the older boys (upper left) who are growing into fine men. Their smiles, hugs, songs and few words in English touched my heart. God is at work in a big way in the middle of their daily struggles. Every one of you who supports them in any way is making an eternal difference. Jesus is indeed showing that the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these!
Then Jesus called for the children and said to the disciples,
“Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them!
For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children."
Luke 18: 6 (NLT)

Keep praying for the children of Haiti and their leaders!

New Ministry Adventures

Back to the future....?

I have not been to Haiti since 2009. With recent significant changes in my WRI assignment, I'm headed back (Sep 15-21)...but not just to Haiti. Brazil is calling me in November, and in between there is a truly new adventure. I will be traveling in October to Kibera (in the city of Nairobi, Kenya), the largest slum in Africa to meet with a new partner, Pastor Makuku, who oversees church planting, a school, ministry to AIDS patients, feeding programs and more.

Above are two of our primary leaders in Haiti; Maula and Pastor Luc. We will meet with them and others to plan future leadership training, and to assess ongoing church planting and orphanage needs. Please pray for new "windows of opportunity" to share the love of Jesus.

What a blessing to be friends and co-laborers in the Kingdom!
